Turkey trails

Summit Metro Parks is holding a Wednesday hike to look for wild turkeys.

The hike will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton. Meet in the Pheasant Run Area.

The park is at 5000 Hametown Road.

Hikers will visit the Pheasant Run and Chippewa trails at a moderate pace to seek out turkeys and signs of turkey and other wildlife.

Turkeys are the largest game bird in North America. They range from 3 to 4 feet tall and weigh up to 24 pounds. They are smaller than farm-raised turkeys eaten at holidays and unable to fly because of their size.
