Valley concert

Fiddler-violinist Ed Caner will host a house concert on Sunday in the Cuyahoga Valley.

The show will be staged at 7 p.m. at the Hines Hill Conference Center, 1403 W. Hines Hill Road, Boston Township.

Tickets are $10.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The facility is not accessible to those in wheelchairs.

Tuba concert

The Tuba-Fours, an all-volunteer group of tuba players, will present an 60-minute concert on Tuesday for Summit Metro Parks.

The show including holiday tunes by the nine tuba players will be staged at 7 p.m. at the Coventry Oaks Pavilion at Firestone Metro Park. That’s off Axline Avenue in South Akron.

The name refers to the four-part harmony of the music.

The Tuba-Fours are members of the Metro Parks Ensemble.

Valley hike — The National Park Service is staging a four-mile off-the-beaten-path hike in the Cuyahoga Valley from 9 to 11 a.m. Meet at park headquarters at Vaughn and Riverview roads in Brecksville. Be prepared to carpool. 330-657-2752.

Snowshoe hike — The National Park Service is presenting a snowshoe hike from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Cuyahoga Valley. Meet at the Kendall Lake Shelter off Truxell Road in Boston Township. The event will become a hike if there’s not enough snow. Rentals are available. 330-657-2752.

Trail reopening — The Portage Park District is celebrating the reopening of the Portage Hike and Bike Trail between Oakwood Street in Ravenna and Lake Rockwell Road in Franklin Township. Evergreens, mistletoe — Beech Creek Gardens in Washington Township is hosting a kissing ball topiary with evergreens and mistletoe workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Advance sign-up is required. The fee is $28 a person. Candy Land and the Christmas Express train will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $2. Beaver Marsh — The National Park Service will direct a hike to explore the Beaver Marsh in the Cuyahoga Valley from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Meet at the Ira Trailhead off Riverview Road north of Ira Road in Cuyahoga Falls. 330-657-2752.
